The 2016 Hidden Coast Paddling Adventure was centered in the Town of Suwannee from September 28 through October 2. The HCPA rotates among four Hidden Coast towns, changing location each year: Suwannee, Cedar Key, Steinhatchee, and Yankee Town. Each location highlights different paddling opportunities in the Hidden Coast/Big Bend area. The 2016 location, Suwannee, lies at the mouth of the fabled Suwannee River where in joins the Gulf of Mexico. This was my second experience with the HCPA; both times I served as a volunteer on several paddling trips. The 2015 location was Yankee Town. The 2017 HCPA was to be held at Cedar Key. However, the Key was so badly devastated by Hurricane Hermine in August that they asked to pass and make the next venue Steinhatchee.
The videos below were of the three day paddles I helped guide. In the pull down menu above, you will also find the brochure for the 2016 HCPA which is illustrative of the kinds of activities offered each year, and . Registrations for the event are limited to 60 - 100 participants, so if you are interested, register early.
