I often paddle along the Indian River Lagoon spoil islands. These are islands created from the spoils dredged in the creation of the Inter Coastal Waterway. On my latest trip (June 1, 2017) I discovered what appears to be a semi-permanent camp on the southeast side of IR6, on what is supposed to be public land, open to all. There’s a gas grill, a shower, and even marker lights on the pilings at the end of the dock. What goes on here?
