The spoil islands in the Indian River Lagoon are public land open to everyone. That is generally a good thing. But some people take over portions of some islands treating it as their own. Indian River Island 1 is the example in this video. When people leave things that they obviously expect to return to and use again, it makes me (and others I suspect) very uneasy about using “their stuff”, especially if I’m using it when they return. This isn't right as all of us own these islands. No one has a right to appropriate any part of them on a "permanent" basis for their own use. In addition, these same folks leave their trash, toilet paper and poop all over the place. People can be thoughtless, selfish, self-centered pigs. The video and editorial below say it all.
