Each year since I began paddling the Indian River Lagoon near my home in Florida in 2010, I have chronicled the derelict boats I’ve run across on the Lagoon’s spoil islands. Each one has a story, shrouded in mystery, that ends on these islands. How did they get there? Are they abandoned? What brought them to what may be their final resting place? And when they disappear, what has happened to them? Each one could be the plot starter for a mystery thriller or a gripping non-fiction story. Here’s the latest installment in this ongoing saga.
